Palm Oil Sustainability Regulation Standard

In response to the urgent and pressing global call for sustainable palm oil production, the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) was formed in 2004 with the objective of promoting the growth and use of sustainable oil palm products through credible global standards and engagement of stakeholders. The seat of the association is in Zurich, Switzerland, while the secretariat is currently based in Kuala Lumpur with a satellite office in Jakarta.

RSPO is a not-for-profit association that unites stakeholders from seven sectors of the palm oil industry (oil palm producers, palm oil processors or traders, consumer goods manufacturers, retailers, banks and investors, environmental or nature conservation NGOs and social or developmental NGOs) to develop and implement global standards for sustainable palm oil.

Due to the growing market relevance of biofuels and the increasing use of agricultural feedstock for their production, the discussion about sustainability has gained importance. The European Commission wants standard requirements for biofuels sustainability in Europe to strengthen the common market. The European Commission holds the notification of the German regulation towards the biofuels quota and process of standardization requirements. The objective is to attempt to establish a common International regulation for biofuels sustainability. LTY work as the consulting firm to spearhead a standardization process in the Asia Pacific regions. Standardization shall be based and enforced on a sustainability-certification-schemes where LTY will work with authority to study and audit the plantation owner to certify into sustainability std in APAC regions. Certification shall have impending impact on future international export proceedings, taxes, market accesses and others. Relevant check list and standards are available now upon request.

For existing plantations with in-house palm oil and/or biofuels processing capability, who are willing to embark on this pilot project, shall have auditing fees waived. This offer shall be reviewed periodically.
